WHAT IS BEARD MICROPIGMENTATION?

The absence of facial hair for adult men can be emotionally troublesome.  As a beard and moustache is often seen as the epitome of masculinity, regardless of the reason, when a beard and/or moustache does not or cannot grow self esteem issues can be the result.

While beard micro pigmentation cannot create a full beard or moustache, it can create the appearance of a shaved faced with whiskers/stubble at the upper lip, beard area, down the neck and even sideburns.  This is more commonly known as the “Five O’clock Shadow” look.

Beard micropigmentation is becoming a more common request among men who want a stronger facial appearance. Beard and moustache hair has fallen back in favour in recent years, so perhaps it is no surprise that micropigmentation techniques have evolved to enable this relatively new type of permanent cosmetic procedure.

HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?

While the technique is similar to scalp micro pigmentation in that hair follicles and small hairs are tattooed to create the look, it is dissimilar in terms of the skin.

While scalp skin is the thickest on the body and requires specialized equipment, pigments, and skill, the artist who performs facial hair micro pigmentation is highly knowledgeable and experienced in tattooing the skin of the face—a very different canvas to tattoo successfully.

While this treatment falls under the umbrella of permanent makeup, cosmetic tattooing and micro pigmentation, it will fade over time and will require regular retouches to keep the work looking fresh.  As with all such procedures, an initial session is required and several touch up sessions will be scheduled as it is important  the work be done incrementally in order to allow for optimal healing and create the most natural final result.
